Turkey Day Bash - Round Five

This is it. The final round. After a drawn out and climactic round four, the two remaining trucks are scarred from battle and worn down from competition. The audience is in a frenzy. This has been the most rule bound competition of the pre-series matches, with technicalities saving trucks, continuing rounds, and ultimately leading up to the battle you are about to witness. This individual round could last well over ten runs per truck, or could end as quickly as one run. That’s all part of the action here at Herman and Ophelia’s 1/64 Monster Jam Turkey Day Bash. Also, as an added bonus, the winning truck (along with a surprise truck) will be performing a freestyle run in celebration. This has already been a spectacular tournament. What surprises will this round hold for us?

Starting us off this round, is Blue Thunder (since Blacksmith just ran). Now that we are in the final round, the pressure will be upon both trucks to succeed. Blue Thunder stages for his run. Hopefully not his last one. The staging lights turn, and everything’s gone green. The truck flies through the air, and comes down onto its front wheels. They shoot up into the air, and the truck catches on the tailgate. Blue Thunder rides the wheelie down the run, and finally ends his run on all four wheels. He’s made it, and now it’s onto Blacksmith to do well.

Now it is up to Blacksmith. The legendary truck stages for his run. This could be it. Trying to take it slow again, the truck goes just fast enough to airborne. However, he is going too slow, and the truck comes down on its nose. The back end has more momentum and he goes over onto his roof. He tumbles down the run, and comes to a stop. An eliminating run. Now if Blue Thunder can make one good run, the tournament will be over. All of this is down to one run. One deciding run.

Blue Thunder lines up with the ramp. This is it. Everything is riding on this one run. The lights go green and he’s moving. Up and over the ramp. Through the air. The audience is cheering him on. Everything slows down. For that split second, everything seems come. Reality comes rushing back to everyone, and the truck makes contact with the ground. He comes down into another wheelie, but he goes into a slight curve and the truck rocks up over onto its side. Blacksmith’s elimination has been voided and the round will continue.

This is going to be a long night.

Before the audience has had time to recover, Blacksmith is flying through the air again. He comes back down and goes into a wheelie. He teeters, but doesn’t go over. A successful run. And now we return to Blue Thunder.

The built Ford tough truck’s engine roars as he thunders into the air. He comes back down to the ground and catches his right front tire. It jams up and the truck flips over onto its roof. He rolls a few times and finally winds up on his wheels. Not good enough. He has made an eliminating run, and now Blacksmith must make one good run to confirm it and claim the win here tonight.

Blacksmith stages for his run. This could be it. But with how the tournament has been going tonight, it could very well be just one link in a chain of runs that is seemingly never ending. 3. 2. 1. Green light. The truck blasts up and over the ramp. He comes back down into a bouncy run. He manages to keep the truck straightened out and on its wheels. Blacksmith comes to as top. Finally ending tonight’s tournament. Blue Thunder has ranked 2nd tonight, leaving Blacksmith with the win.

Again, your winner here tonight…Blacksmith!
